Over the centuries, the Garda Island had various names taken from the different owners such as Cranie, Frati, Lechi, Scotti, de Ferrari, and later Borghese. In 1927, after the death of Prince Borghese, the island was inherited by his daughter Livia, married to Count Alessandro Cavazza of Bologna, and later bestowed to her son Camillo. The latter left it to his wife Carlotta and his seven children. Nowadays they are living in the villa and still looking after the park.
