A journey through the Royal Palace of Caserta and the beautiful districts of the Amalfi Coast.
Transfer to Caserta by bus from the Napoli train station o airport. You will meet with the Architect Nicola Tartaglione, an expert in landscape architecture. He will be with you during the visit to the Royal Palace of Caserta. Time for independent lunch. In the afternoon, guided tour of the Royal Palace. It is a historic dwelling belonged to the dynasty of the Bourbons from Napoli. It is UENSCO World Heritage Site. It is surrounded by a huge park divided into two parts: the Italian garden and English garden. The Royal Palace was built at the behest of Carlo III of Bourbon, because he had been stricken by the beauty of this landscape, and keen on giving a magnificent headquarters to the capital’s government Napoli, and his kingdom. He wanted to realized a palace as beautiful as the one in Versailles. At first, it seemed that the Palace was meant to be built in Napoli, but Carlo, aware of the vulnerability of the capital to the attacks from the sea, thought of building it in the hinterland of Caserta‘ s territory, a place far from Napoli. At the end, drive to Vetri sul Mare and check in to Lloyd’s Baia Hotel****. Dinner in Hotel.
Breakfast in hotel. Tour of the Amalfi Coast. You will meet the tour guide Paola Valitutti in hotel. Transfer to Positano to see the beautiful Coast. Walk through alleys, small gardens, terraces, and visit to the local souvenirs shops. Transfer to Amalfi with private boat. Visit to Amalfi’s cathedral and its splendid cloister. After the visit drive to Ravello by bus. Guided tour of Villa Rufolo. It is the favorite destination of artists, musicians, and poets. In this garden Richard Wagner realized most of his works. Later on, Visit to Villa Cimbrone, residence which hosted nobles, scientists, and famous politicians such as Forster, Strachey, Keynes, Moore, Russell, Elliot, Crick, Piaget, Virgina Woolf,DH Lawrence, Dukes of Kent and Winston Churchill. Afterwards, return to the hotel and dinner.
Breakfast in hotel. Here you will meet the tour guide. Transfer to Maiori, and walk through the nice streets of the town. Visit to Mezzacapo Palace and its beautiful gardens. They have been designed in the shape of a Maltese cross. Lunch included in a restaurant. In the afternoon visit to Vietri sul Mare, and later on , time for shopping. Return to the hotel and dinner.
Breakfast in hotel and transfer to Caserta. You will meet the architect Tartaglione to visit Duke and Duchess Guevara’s Palace, better known as Villa Porfidia.( it is named after the actual owners). It was commissioned by the Guevara family, friends of the Bourbons, in order to live near the Royal family who was transferring to the Royal Palace of Caserta, only 4 km away. The interior of the villa features steps decorated with classic sculptures, and the frescos on the wooden ceilings and rooms. The oaks wood, exotic plants and a vegetable garden make the Villas ‘s garden one of a kind. Afterwards time for shopping. Transfer by bus to the train station or airport.
